Champions of the 2011 U.S. Pond Hockey Championships

An unbelievable cold weekend at Lake Nokomis ended with an unbelievably tense final showdown between the Whiskey Bandits and Wright Homes Almost 40 in the U.S. Pond Hockey Championships Open Division finale.

Wright Homes, the 2010 defending champions, came out strong and held several leads in the the game, but the Whiskey Bandits managed to tie it 8-8 at the end of regulation.

After several close calls in overtime, the Whiskey Bandits banged in a goal and claimed the 2011 Open Division championship 9-8


40+ Division: Outside Mouthguards skated away with the championship, beating the St. Croix Slashers 10-5.


50+ Division: In a tight match-up, The Loons fell short in their first Championship Sunday bid, falling 7-5 to Geezers in Breezers.


Rink Rat Division: The Vaporizers claimed the Silver Scoop in a close match, overtaking The Dinosaurs 9-8.


Women's Division: The Montreal Exchange rolled past the Fighting Weasels 10-5 to claim the championship.


Timberland Boot Hockey Division: Halftime Rec ran away with the inaugural championship to claim the Golden Boot, with a 12-3 victory over the Ice Midgets.
