Due to the warm weather in Minnesota, we have made the decision to reschedule the 2016 Labatt Blue U.S. Pond Hockey Championships to January 28-31, 2016.
Our goal is to provide the absolute best pond hockey tournament in the world. We believe that by moving the date, we will be able to accomplish this.
For the past month, we have been monitoring the ice conditions on Nokomis as well as forecasts for the area leading up to the event. We do not believe that there will be sufficient ice for us to safely hold the event on the original date. While Minnesota weather can drastically change and deviate from forecasts, we are making the decision now so that everyone will have as much time as possible to make alternative arrangements to their travel plans. We understand that for some, this is going to be difficult.
We hope that every team that has registered can make it to Lake Nokomis for the new date. However, we understand that this may not be an option for everyone. For registered teams, you have two options:
** A separate email will be sent to team captains with instructions to confirm team plans for either participating in this year’s event on the new dates or deferring your registration and payment to 2017. **
Behind the scenes we've been working with all of our partners to ensure that changes within our power have the least amount of negative impact on you. We have coordinated with our sponsors to ensure their participation and hotel partners to ensure that your hotel reservations are honored for the new date.
We look forward to seeing you on Nokomis on January 28-31, 2016!
