[UPDATE] Jan 23 - US Pond Hockey Championships

The people have spoken. The little live video I did was viewed by over 2,000 people so clearly ya'll are interested in updates. I'll do my best to do these daily until puck drop.

The tents are almost fully up and ready for the weekend. It's so cool to see them from the distance and makes that final half mile get filled with anticipation. I'm sure you know what I mean.

The pond has no water on top of the ice. Good and bad I guess. Bad in that it has absorbed into the ice below. Good in that when temps hit freezing, it'll freeze the top layers and work down to the solid ice below. As the tops freeze, we'll be hitting them with the zam to remove imperfections and smooth things out.

It was nice to wake up this morning to the warmer late weekend temps being moved to Monday. As you can see in the photo, we'll be in the 15-25 range for most of the weekend which is the absolute dream ideal range for the event.

Sounds like we may get some snow tomorrow night which is going to create a long night for the ice ops crew getting the snow off the ice since it works as a natural insulation. They'll be working 24 hours to keep the rinks clear and exposed to the freezing temps when they roll in.

That's it for now. Jimmy D
