Q. Can boys and girls play on the same team?
A. Of course! This is pond hockey, where boys and girls play hockey together in harmony. But remember that teams will be divided by the “sticks in the middle” method when they arrive to their rink, so your child will play with and against his or her original teammates.
Q. Can parents, siblings, friends and grandparents come to watch?
A. The more the merrier! Please bring as many people as you’d like to cheer on your child. Admission is free. In addition to watching your child’s games, we have a giant heated warming house where we sell food, beverages and merchandise. Also on the ice is the Family Skating Rink, where anyone can skate for free. And don’t miss adult U.S. Pond Hockey Championships games, happening from 8:30-4:00 all weekend starting Friday, Jan. 22.
Q. Can I pull my younger children on the ice on a sled?
A. Yes, you betcha.
Q. Can I take pictures of my child while playing his pick-up games?
A. Definitely. We will also have professional photographers on hand to take pictures of teams and game play. Pictures can be ordered on-line or at the photo booth in our heated warming house tent.
Q. I’ve heard about a food drive. Please tell me about that.
A. We’ll be collecting food for the Emergency Food Shelf Network. Please drop off nonperishable food items in the warming house tent. Thanks for your support!
