This is pond hockey. Some call it shinny. Our goal is to give kids a chance to experience hockey purity — no referees, no rigid rules and randomly selected teams. So rules are few. Here they are . . .

1. All players must wear full hockey equipment. Players can wear any type of jersey or warm weather attire. Pinnies will be provided to distinguish the teams.
2. No goalie equipment or goalie sticks permitted.
3. No checking.
4. No slapshots. Saucer passes (i.e. pucks that are lifted low, below the knee) are acceptable.
5. No goaltending.
6. Pick-up games will last 25 minutes each. Teams will switch sides halfway through each pick-up game. To keep players moving and warm during cold weather, there will not be a halftime break. 
7. Have fun and enjoy playing hockey . . . as nature intended!
